The Texas Office of Attorney General is looking for an Assistant Attorney General in Paris, TX.
Must not own a Family Law Practice (conflict of interest).
All other Texas licensed attorneys are welcome to apply. Performs entry-level and complex attorney work for the Child Support Division. Work involves representing the State's interest in judicial and administrative matters, and providing legal advice, consultation and technical assistance to the Child Support Program and staff. Works under close/moderate/general supervision, with minimal/limited/moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Functions:
- Review and approve pleadings.
- Review and approve proposed orders.
- Answers legal questions of Child Support Officers in the office.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
- Licensed as an attorney in the State of Texas.
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code.
- Skill in legal writing, meditation and negotiation.
- Skill in preparing sound opinions, conducting investigations and performing legal research.
- Skill in using a personal computer for word-processing and data/entry retrieval.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Skill in working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, Department of Justice criminal history background check and provide a valid social security card.
- Two years' experience in handling Family Law cases a plus but not required.
- Jury trial experience a plus but not required.
- Experience in handling fast pace environment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish a plus but not required.
- Can apply before Bar exam but will not start until Bar Number issued.
Compensation: This will be an Hourly Position. See below for wage range.
