The role you'll contribute:

Responsible for, reporting to and working with Associate Chief Legal Officer Labor/Employment to (1) keep informed of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations which affect the operations of AdventHealth and advise appropriate personnel of the significance thereof, (2) draft and review responses to government agencies, demand letters, settlement agreements and other documents as needed, (3) coordinate and communicate with other staff of the Legal Services and Human Resources community, (4) provide legal advice and counsel to facilities for compliance with appropriate laws and regulations for day to day operations and/or strategic planning, (5) efficiently manage assigned outside counsel in litigation, (6) attend and lead in mediations and settlement negotiations, (7) train new leaders and Human Resources team members regarding the importance of and compliance with employment laws, (8) effectively manage cases and projects, and (9) work collaboratively with AdventHealth's Labor and Employment legal team.

• Manage company-wide labor and employment matters.

• Assist Human Resources in developing and maintaining legally compliant policies and practices.

• Participate in the overall development of the legal services department, internally and externally.

• Provide the executive management team of AdventHealth with an understanding of legal parameters and motivating compliance with legal requirements in the labor and employment field.

• Responsible for maintaining communication with other attorneys and/or senior leadership.

• Responsible for adhering to Department File System Policy(ies), Directory Policy(ies), Service Log Policy(ies), and Department's Best Practices Policy.

• Draft memoranda and/or other documents responding to agency charges, legal demands from opposing counsel, and inquiries from clients.

• Adhere to Rules of Professional Conduct of the Florida Bar and other state bars of which he/she is a member.

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :

• Graduation from an accredited law school

• Member of the Florida Bar

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of legal principles and labor and employment law.

• Legal research skills.

• Reason logically and analytically.

• Grasp, comprehend and analyze complex legal issues and complicated factual details.

• Work effectively with others as well as work independently, without close supervision.

• Familiarity with Microsoft's office suite, email applications, and other software resources.

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Board certified in employment law or board eligible

• Management-side Law firm experience in labor and employment law

• Teaching\lecturing\presenting experience

• 3-5 years practice experience and at least 3 years specific experience in labor and employment laws and regulations and human resources and employee relations issues

• Experience in recognizing labor and employment issues in the workplace and providing advice

• Experience dealing with government agency investigations and litigation in state and federal court

• Teaching and training ability for leaders and human resources regarding labor and employment issues
