Position Number: 112670 Position Title (Classification Title): Assistant Director, 112670 Working Title: HMCSE Assistant Director for Graduate Program Advising Job Summary: The successful candidate will use a learning-centered approach to advising that enhances students' decision- making skills and contributes to the development of students' intellectual and personal growth; will be knowledgeable of and provide students with the resources, support, and opportunities available to make informed decisions, enhance their educational experience, and promote student success; will provide students with accurate information about degree requirements and institutional and departmental policies and procedures; will encourage students to participate in learning opportunities outside of the classroom setting; will develop realistic educational plans that meet the needs, goals, and interests of individual students; will accurately and efficiently document interactions with students and students' progress toward meeting educational, personal, and professional goals using adopted software programs; will use multiple forms of media to communicate with students (e.g., email, telephone, fax, video calls); will demonstrate efficient and effective use of technology; will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; and will maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines. Develop structured feedback for students by using university/college technology platforms (i.e. banner, campus, degree works, tableau, etc.) Serves as liaison between University administrators, students, faculty, staff and others regarding admission/registration activities for the HMCSE graduate programs (Math, Data Science, Biology, Computer Science & Engineering). Assists with supervisory responsibility for HMCSE Advising Work Study Personnel. Department Office of Academic Success OASIS FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience: or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 6 years of appropriate experience -Or- Terminal Degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 2 years of appropriate experience. Essential Functions / Job Duties:

  • 20% - Lead graduate admissions committee to include the tasks of meeting with committee and reviewing graduate applications and decide upon admission; sign data sheets; meet with Wiley team as needed; review and approve prerequisite overrides, course transfer requests; coordinate with CE about enrollment of graduate students in undergraduate courses; provide feedback to chairs on course demand plan with chair the schedule for each semester; POC for graduate programs; Reviews and makes recommendations to the Department Chairs on probation/suspension. - (Essential)
  • 20% - For the Mathematical Sciences and Data Science graduate programs; reviewing, approving, and processing individual student proctor forms for online courses; organizing semester proctor form information; communicating with proctors on exam days; sending exams to proctors and receiving completed exams from proctors; and sending completed exams to instructors. - (Essential)
