Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Research and Strategy brings intellectual analysis and synthesis to the areas of data-centric research, institutional metrics and data, the faculty lifecycle, and strategic planning. The incumbent will have a Ph.D., significant experience in data and quantitative methods, experience with faculty organization and processes in a university setting, and a strong vision for strategy. The incumbent must be an outstanding communicator, both in presentations and in written communication.

This position collaborates with senior leadership in the school including the dean, associate deans, department chairs, and other directors. The position may also work with others across campus including in other schools and central units. Works independently on the projects and research.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Drives the overall vision of the Dean's Office by implementing effective strategies for data management, data science, and data analytics to support the collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of data information and evidence for making data-informed decisions
  • Provides direct academic research in the fields of communication, social science performance, allied health, and related fields for the use of the dean, the faculty, and the staff of the school.
  • Creates meaningful data visualizations to effectively highlight findings
  • Works with faculty members encouraging and facilitating research and publications.
  • Works with the various research offices to expand and grow research opportunities.
  • Develop and write methods sections of project reports, grant applications and papers
  • Visualizes the school's success via tracking and analyzing outputs including rankings, awards, publications, and other recognitions
  • Assists with faculty lifecycles by participating in the processes, engagement, commissions, tracking, and awareness of the faculty, their activities, and their career paths.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership in the school and across campus.
  • Researches and recommends strategies for increased effectiveness, visibility, and success of the school, its faculty, students, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of responsible work experience.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously required. Must be able to work independently. Project a professional demeanor and be proactive about identifying and resolving potential problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent data visualization and presentation design skills.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $68,000-$78,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
