The mission of the Office of Student Development and Success ( OSDS ) is to create a positive freshman-year experience by helping students successfully transition into the college, feel part of the college community, develop academic success strategies, understand their chosen profession, and learn to use some of the tools and techniques of their profession.

OSDS also helps students develop professional skills and prepares them to successfully transition into the workplace upon graduation by providing a variety of experiential learning and leadership opportunities, engaging employers both in and out of the classroom, and establishing networks with alumni.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director for Student Engagement oversees all facets of student academic, residential, and co-curricular life, focusing on enhancing student success through a diverse range of responsibilities
Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Working closely with OSDS faculty and staff to create a supportive learning environment and increase student engagement in OSDS success programs.
  • Planning, organizing, promoting, and executing varied college engagement experiences (curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular) to cultivate community, student engagement, and retention.
  • Providing oversight and guidance to College of Engineering student organizations and clubs in event planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Assessing departmental programming, activities, and services to drive strategic improvements.
  • Supervising and developing student employees to support their academic and professional growth.
  • Acting as a liaison with other departments to coordinate student services and instructional programs, enhancing overall student experiences.
  • Managing a comprehensive master calendar of student activities and events.
  • Demonstrating exceptional communication skills, enthusiasm, and a dedicated commitment to supporting College of Engineering students.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • Candidates should hold a master's degree in higher education or a related field.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in college student engagement and event planning.
  • Background in STEM fields
