Position Summary
The Assistant Director of the Student Support supervises the Financial Aid Student Service Team. This position manages and oversees direct student services provided to students, families and the ampus community through email, telephone, in-person and chat interactions.

The Assistant Director of the Student Support ensures office staff provide quality student service while applying appropriate oversight, training and best practice procedures in accordance with Federal, State, and Institution regulations and policies. This position also serves on campus committees including the Student Employment Steering Committee and the Front Line Student Services Committee that coordinates direct student services between Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, Registration & Records, Academic Advising, OIT Help Desk and the University Welcome Center.

This position also participates in office outreach efforts, communications, orientation and admissions events.

This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships and is part of the leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and three years working in student services, with at least two years of providing customer service to students

Effective time management and team building skills. Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to represent PSU in various settings such as orientations, admitted student receptions, and other recruitment and retention events

Experience with public speaking and presenting information to large groups

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and a high volume of student contact

Ability to work in a highly computerized and technical environment

Ability to form positive and conducive interpersonal relationships with direct reports and other FA staff.

Ability to collaborate and relate to staff in other departments that we partner with, such as Student Financial Services, Registration & Records, Admissions (UG and Graduate), Advising & Career Services, etc. - to improve the student experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with 3+ years of related experience in higher education or a related field.

Working knowledge of Federal Student Aid regulations

Previous experience leading teams and mentoring staff.

Experience with Ellucian Higher Ed software (Banner) or similar

Experience with Talisma, Slate, or other comparable CRM

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $50,148 and $68,952.
