The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Academic Operations (ADAO) , a critical member of the Academic Operations team within the School's larger Student Services and Academic Operations unit (SSAO). The mission of the SSAO is to manage McIntire's world -class academic programs and empower students to pursue academic excellence while fostering an inclusive and collaborative community . The Academic Operations team is responsible for executing the functions that deliver undergraduate, graduate, and non- degree program support to ensure students are making progr ess to complete their educational requirements . This work includes services and logistics like academic planning, space management , faculty engagement , and data processing .

The ADAO works collaboratively to provide comprehensive academic services for all programs at McIntire. The position e nsures the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of academic data and p rovides input and support related to developing, implementing, and monitoring McIntire's undergraduate and g raduate curriculum. The majority of work they perform will be a var iety of data-related transactions in SIS and other UVa systems to update student records, process transfer credit, and build the schedule of classes each semester. The ADAO partner s with the Director of Academic Operations and other SSAO team members to report, audit, and communicate student progress throughout th eir ti me at the Sc hoo l . Developing and maintai ning rel ationships w ith Univer sity schools, units, and departments such as the Office of the University Registrar (UREG), Student Financial Services (SFS), and the UVa Military Educational Benefits Team is essential.

The successful candidate will have experience working with student records, data management, and student information systems . They will develop and implement innovative ways to streamline and improve processes to make them more efficient and effective. In addition, candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, outstanding customer service, strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to supporting a diverse community of learners, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and entrepreneurial environment. Creativity, strong written and oral communication skills, and technology proficiency are vital . Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as dictated by program schedules and student needs is preferred .

International travel opportunities with one of McIntire's short-term study abroad programs may be available to staff members on an optional basis.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of experience in academic administration
  • Strong knowledge of student information and reporting systems like UVa's SIS and UBI
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite , especially Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or equivalent field
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Qualtrics, Acalog , Curriculog , ImageNow, Stellic , EMS, Salesforce, and DocuSign
Anticipated Hiring Range : $ 60,000-$69,000
