Job Summary:
This role supports the strategy and operations of Wisconsin School of Business undergraduate student career development with oversight of specific critical workstreams including alumni engagement and mentorship, student-facing career communications, and career resources and technology. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Career Engagement supervises 3 professional career coaches. This role is integral to the implementation of our Career Forward program with the goal of providing effective and equitable career exploration, recruiting preparation, and employment outcomes for all undergraduate business students. This role also engages directly with undergraduate students through career coaching, programming, and signature career experiences.
Responsibilities: Serves as a work unit leader on career development, employer-relations and/or related service delivery. Contributes to work unit program management, strategic planning, and personnel management and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • 25% Advises students, delivers career development programming for students, and/or consults with employers on recruitment strategy and planning
  • 35% Manages one or more specific operational area(s) or functional area(s) or program(s) within the unit
  • 20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 10% Assists in identifying, promoting, and maintaining external partnerships to understand employment needs and encourage recruitment of the institutions students
  • 5% Participates in the campus-wide career services community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college
  • 5% Contributes to the conceptualization, development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the work unit to ensure alignment of strategy and operations

Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in career services
- Minimum of 2 years work experience providing career advising to students
- Minimum of 1 year experience supervising either student or professional staff members

Preferred:
- Proven ability to develop and manage stakeholder relationships
- Ability to lead a team including day-to-day supervision, performance management, and hiring
- Skilled in project management, ensuring timely and successful completion of initiatives
- Knowledge of business career pathways and industry trends
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to leverage technology in student career development
- Experience in designing and delivering engaging workshops and presentations

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $75,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
