Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Associate Director of Orientation & Enrollment Programs, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Programs serves as a key team member in the development and implementation of programs focused on onboarding and continued success. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing assigned portions of orientation as well as developing and implementing enrollment programs focused on matriculation and continued success. The Assistant Director also supervises undergraduate and graduate students as available. Finally, the Assistant Director is responsible for building and maintaining key campus partnerships related to orientation for special populations as well as important transition programs and serves on University committees as requested by supervisors.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Facilitates programs and initiatives focused on ensuring the successful matriculation and retention of students, including portions of orientation.
  • Manages the development and implementation of orientation for 49er Next and early college students in collaboration with the Associate Director.
  • Assists in the development, administration, and interpretation of program assessment and makes informed recommendations for changes.
  • Serves on University committees and working groups as an enrollment programs representative as requested.
  • Facilitates the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of student leaders/employees.
  • Assists with other events and initiatives within the office.
  • Generates reports and shares with University administrators.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree required, or Bachelor's Degree and equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in orientation, transition, and/or retention programs (two years of paraprofessional or graduate assistant experience may count toward one year of professional experience)
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with individuals and groups
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Student Affairs/Development/Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related area
  • Awareness and understanding of the transitional needs of new students and their families/supporters
  • Experience working collaboratively with other units within an institution and the community
  • Demonstrated experience with various phases of program planning, development, and assessment
  • Project management, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
