Job Summary:

The Assistant Director, Gift Planning (specifically deferred gifts) assists with the cultivation of new gifts for the Gift Planning program at TCU. This position emphasizes the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new planned gifts with prospective individual donors. The Assistant Director, Gift Planning also helps educate donors and their personal advisors about various gift plans and vehicles, supports overall program marketing efforts, helps steward current donors, and works collaboratively with other gift officers.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Supports the overall long-term financial strength of the University by soliciting planned gifts from donors and prospective donors.
2. Develops and maintains trusting and successful relationships with other gift officers.
3. Assists with Gift Planning's stewardship efforts by calling on Britain Society members.
4. Participates in local professional associations and pursues educational opportunities in planned giving and fund raising.
5. Assists with all aspects of marketing TCU's Gift Planning program.
6. Maintains regular, continuing contact with prospects, allied professional and Advancement staff.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2 years of experience in individual donor solicitation and prospect management (preferably in gift planning) or a closely related field that includes developing and maintaining relationships with individual donors/clients (preferably in the financial industry).

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Higher education development experience.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, methods of fund raising and relationship development.
• Knowledge of computerized systems for managing development information and for calculating planned gifts.
• Knowledge of planned gifts and their use in fund raising.
• Skill in making presentations including the ability to persuade and connect audiences to the university.
• Ability to work independently while keeping others informed of issues, problems, opportunities and progress.
• Ability to work well with a wide variety of people, including prospects and their professional advisors.
• Ability to receive sensitive financial and personal information discreetly.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
