Job Description:


American International College is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our Residence Life team as the Assistant Director of Residence Life Operations. This position is responsible for leading the Residence Life department in all aspects of housing operations, including assignment processes, billing, and committee involvement related to a 12-month housing operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Housing Operations
  • Lead the Residence Life department through all day-to-day housing assignments, billing processes and services, and related committees.
  • Manage room assignment and room change processes throughout the academic year, including the placement of transfer and returning students.
  • Oversee the annual Residence Life room selection process.
  • Develop and maintain the housing assignments database, addressing support issues, updating technologies, and updating the student-facing housing portal.
Residence Education
  • Develop and implement training for residence directors and resident advisor staff, including annual fall and spring training, as well as ongoing in-services and initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Director of Residence Life to implement the overall philosophy, programming model, vision, and strategic plan for AIC's residence life program.
Student Conduct
  • Share responsibility for interpreting College and residence hall policies and adjudicating student conduct meetings for alleged policy violations.
  • Serve in an "on-call" rotation, assisting with emergency responses and providing second-level support for live-in staff.
Student Engagement/Student Life
  • Support Student Life in developing a robust and diverse offering of co-curricular student engagement activities that are inclusive, equitable, and meet the social, intercultural, and educational needs of the student community.
  • Participate and assist in the development of major events held by the College, such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Spring Weekend.
  • Advise assigned Registered Student Organizations (RSO), including event approval, budget oversight, performance agreement review, and logistical support.
Other
  • Perform other duties as needed, including participating in committee assignments and aiding in the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Participate in assignments assigned by Student Life Leadership as needed.


Requirements:


Education:
  • Master's Degree (required).
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel Administration, Student Affairs Administration, or a similar degree.
  • Professional experience in Student Affairs at a college or university is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with college housing operations, including budget management, housing assignments, occupancy, and facilities.
  • Strong ability to learn, utilize, and improve software applications and databases, including Maxient conduct software and The Housing Director housing software.
  • Proficiency with Excel for data interpretation and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Understanding of residential living and student development theory.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Maxient and The Housing Director systems
