Department Summary

The University of North Texas competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. North Texas' athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Position Overview

Serve as the tutorial coordinator (hire, train, and schedule tutors) Assistant Learning Specialist

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in in related field and two years' of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:
  • Recruits, hires, trains and evaluates tutors and academic coaches. Creates tutoring schedules, and coordinates administrative functions related to tutor payroll.
  • Provides consistent and frequent verbal and written communication to the academic staff and coaches regarding the academic progress of assigned student-athletes.
  • Works with academic counselors to review student athlete class scheduling, degree plans, academic progress, and schedule necessary tutorial services.
  • Conducts tutor trainings through out the semester to assist with the development of all tutors and academic coaches.
  • Coordinates the evaluation of student-athlete success, tutors and academic coaches.
  • Maintains tutor training materials and tutor manual consistent with department and NCAA Rules and regulations.
  • Assists the Learning Specialist with communication and programing regarding student athletes with Education-Impacting Disability.
  • Works closely with the Learning Specialist to coordinate and implement individualized academic plans for designated student athletes.
  • Collaborates with the Learning Specialist to ensure the availability of testing and support services for student-athletes with Education-Impacting Disability.
  • Assists with recruiting presentations when necessary.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday with weekends and evenings based on need.
