The University, located in Charlottesville, Virginia, is a selective public institution known for its teaching, research, and public service. The University of Virginia sponsors a 27-sport intercollegiate athletics program, which includes approximately 750 student-athletes. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director / Director of Ticket Sales.

Under the direction of the Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Sales and Operations, the Assistant Director / Director of Ticket Sales is responsible for and oversees all inbound and outbound ticketing sales and service efforts for Virginia Athletics.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise Account Executives whose primary duty is to generate revenue through the sale of new season, group tickets, and mini plans for football, women's basketball, and men's basketball.
  • Generate new personal tickets sales through outbound phone calls, emails, and text messages and provide excellent customer service.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of the ticket sales team, conduct weekly sales team meetings, and assist in the hiring and evaluation process.
  • Establish and develop ticket sales campaigns, goals, and activity metrics.
  • Work all home football games and other events as assigned.
  • Work closely with the Virginia Athletics Foundation and Marketing to drive ticket sales and stewardship.
  • Ensure that all Department of Athletics and University-related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletics Department efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Seek interpretations from the compliance staff before acting, when necessary.
  • Report potential rules violations immediately.
  • Complete required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor all supervisory areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Sales & Operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations.
  • Ability to independently reason, analyze and organize information in order to make substantive and sometimes complex decisions.
  • Ability to work independently assessing needs, comprehending potential issues, and developing strategy to problem solve.
  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use utmost discretion with sensitive information.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  • Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least one year of ticket sales experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing Paciolan and Salesforce for ticketing operations.
  • Experience working for professional sports team or collegiate athletics in a ticket sales capacity.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
The anticipated hiring range for this role is $50,000 base pay annually plus opportunity to earn additional compensation based on sales performance. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
