Job Description:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) role is a full-time exempt position that includes a full benefit package. As a part of the executive team, the AGM reports to the General Manager and will serve as chief administrative officer, implementing and overseeing departmental functions from operations, budgets, to staff, and supporting the General Manager's role to focus on external matters such as budgeting, fundraising, public relations, and partnerships.

The primary objective of the AGM is to ensure the smooth functioning of our business in alignment with established policies and our long-term vision, contributing to our continued success. The AGM will provide leadership, management, and operational support to OEPM.

Performs highly advanced (senior-level) policy administration and managerial work. Work involves strategic planning, state agency administration, and working closely with the GM on the day-to-day operations of OEPM and its branches. Supervises the work of others including staff at the executive level and/or management level. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The AGM is responsible for executive leadership and management of OEPM to achieve its mission. The AGM strategically directs OEPM through identification of key risks and opportunities and by ensuring systematic managerial effectiveness of physical assets, spending authority, staff management affairs, and human resources of Exposition Park. The AGM is the primary communicator within OEPM for all administrative matters, guiding implementation for organizational expectations, strategic direction, activity updates and park/office recognition and change leadership. The AGM simultaneously: ensures compliance with executive/governmental orders, laws, regulations, and agreements as they relate to the administration and operation of Exposition Park; and safeguards the interest of and advances the mission, goals, and strategic planning of the OEPM.

    Department Information

    The Office of Exposition Park Management (OEPM) is a state department within the California Natural Resources Agency, under the direction of a General Manager, appointed by the Governor. Exposition Park is a 160-acre state property in the heart of Los Angeles, south of downtown. The Park serves millions of visitors annually and is home to a collection of world-class museums, educational and sport facilities, and entertainment venues and open space publicly accessible to over half a million individuals who live within a three-mile radius, and to the millions of residents in the greater Los Angeles area.

    The Office of Exposition Park Management's (OEPM) Mission is to provide long-term executive leadership in the development and implementation of park usage policy and day-to-day management, operation, and promotion of Exposition Park for its tenants and the public. To advance its park-wide supervisory and administrative role, OEPM is supported by three branches: Department of Public Safety; Business and Public Affairs; and Administration and Operations, including fiscal operations.

    Examination Information
