Job Summary Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor II are registered nurses who are responsible for the operation of the nursing unit over a specific time period. The Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor must have a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and skills on which to base judgments and make decisions, organizing abilities to direct nursing tasks and operations, and interpersonal skills to facilitate communication and the work of others. The Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor accepts the responsibility for, and is accountable for, his/her own nursing practice. The Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor also seeks out and pursues opportunities for learning and assumes responsibility for their own self-development. Registered nurses must be knowledgeable and skillful in performing the Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor role. A registered nurse who assumes the role of Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor also assumes the responsibility inherent to the role. Three fundamental responsibilities for Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor include planning, coordinating, and evaluating unit nursing activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent RN experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience
  • Recent RN experience in Otolaryngology or surgical specialty clinic
  • Minimum of one (1) year RN experience with procedures, preop, postop, intraop, and moderate sedation.
  • Recent experience with scopes and High Level of Disinfection (HDL).
  • Possession of current California RN License without restrictions.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Moderate sedation certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with telephone triage/mychart encounters
  • Experience with referrals.
  • EPIC experience
  • Ambulatory clinic experience
Department Description

The Department of Otolaryngology provides a multitude of comprehensive services within the clinic for both the pediatric and adult populations. These services include general otolaryngology, head, and neck cancer, skull base surgery, ear surgery, cochlear implant, facial plastic, and reconstructive surgery, nasal sinus, craniofacial anomalies, voice/swallowing, speech, and language therapy, audiology, dental and skin care. The Otolaryngology Clinic has more than twenty thousand patient visits per year and is ranked 25th among all Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialties in America.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must demonstrate ability in assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients
  • Has mandatory reporting responsibilities for domestic violence, child abuse and elder/dependent abuse
  • Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods
  • Works overtime, floats to other areas and works weekends and holidays
  • References reflect an overall meet or exceeds

  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
