UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager to join our Digestive Health Center.

This is a unique role within the department caring for a specialized group of patients with Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions - it is specialized to both clinical and pre- post procedure care and provides the candidate with a range of duties and a level or responsibility that encourages professional collaboration, growth and development. This position also supports and works in conjunction with the operations of the Digestive Health Center.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises the Clinical Operations and Case Management Team.

  • Promotes a high functioning environment that fosters continuing learning and professional development such as assisting staff in identifying and meeting their ongoing educational needs.

  • Promotes shared unit-based practice decision making and demonstrates the ability to collaborate, compromise and fully support decisions made at the unit and nursing leadership levels.

  • Demonstrates the ability to foster a healthy work environment such as resolving conflicts tactfully, using appropriate channels for escalation for unresolved issues, and demonstrating professionalism in day-to-day activities.

  • Coordinates orientation and mentoring of staff. Develops mentors and evaluates effectiveness of unit-based preceptors.

  • Demonstrates understanding of Evidence Based Practices and identifies resources to assist with clinical decision making.

  • Assists with the development of standards, policies and procedures for the unit.

  • Evaluates quality of service being provided to patients and implements changes required.

  • Assists in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of caremaps.

  • Assesses physical and psychosocial care needs of patients and family across the continuum of care and identifies learning needs and appropriate educational resources.

  • Provides telephone triage and consultations to patients with problems related to GI condition/procedure.

  • Coordinates home health and other referrals.

  • Full Time, Day shifts

    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of current/recent Med/Surg or Care Management experience required; GI experience desired.

  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington.

  • BSN or greater strongly preferred.
