General Summary:

Assists with the management of clinical, human and other resources within the Short Procedure Unit (SPU). Functions as a role model. Provides clinical expertise in evaluating SPU patient assessment, care, discharge and transfer. Provides guidance related to standards of care/practice, policies and procedures, and practice guidelines. Reinforces regulatory standards with staff, physicians and health care providers. Provides direct patient care as needed. Supports/reinforces developed goals and objectives to sustain the department in the changing health care environment. Maintains competence in clinical nursing practice and obtains relevant education.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion from an accredited school of nursing.
  • NJ RN license.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Five years clinical experience in Short Procedure Unit (Same Day Surgery) Nursing.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of performance improvement and regulations specific to the emergency room including EMTALA.
  • Possesses education skills, knowledge of and ability to use computers, solid human relations skills.

Conditions of Employment
