Department Summary

The Computer Science and Engineering Department is home to 9 Professors, 13 Associate Professors, 11 Assistant Professors, 30 Professional faculty, over 160 Ph.D. students over 2500 master students and over 1500 bachelor students. We offer a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, M.S. degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Data Engineering, ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology, and a new B.S. degree in Cybersecurity. The Department is dedicated to creating a climate in which every faculty and student can be successful. Position Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking candidates for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position. The candidate will be expected to teach CSE undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program funded by external sources, support, and mentor graduate students, and provide service to the University and the profession. A candidate who can strengthen or complement one or more of the department's existing strengths and/or college priority areas, is especially encouraged to apply. Areas of particular interest to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering are Computer Engineering and its related subfields.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold a terminal degree in computer engineering or a closely related field, appointed to perform the responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of degree by date of appointment.

For consideration as an Assistant Professor, a strong publication record and the potential to succeed in securing research funding and mentoring graduate students are required. Additionally for an Associate Professor position, we require a sustained record of securing external funding for research activities, providing mentoring to junior faculty, advising graduate students, and providing service to the University and profession.

Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank should have a sustained record of scholarship and external research funding, successful mentoring of junior faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and recognized service activities. Must meet UNT's criteria for tenure.

Preferred Qualifications

Faculty who can strengthen or complement our existing strength areas of Computer Architectures, Computer Networking, Embedded Systems, Operating Systems. Candidates are encouraged to look at our current strengths (e.g., faculty profiles) and address in their application materials how their research expertise would boost our strengths and capacity for future innovations. Our hires will also contribute to the College of Engineering wide priorities in the areas of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Autonomous Vehicles, Digital Manufacturing, and Smart Sensors.
