The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at South Dakota Mines is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level related to Water Resources Engineering. An earned doctorate in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is required. The position has a dual focus of teaching and research, and the candidate will be expected to be a teacher-scholar. We seek candidates who will establish a strong externally funded research program that supports the CEE PhD program and excel in teaching courses related to water resources engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as other fundamental civil engineering courses. The desired start date for the position is August 2024.
Research at South Dakota Mines involves faculty and students at every academic level, and often involves collaboration across the state, the nation, and the globe. South Dakota Mines provides access to cutting edge infrastructure which supports convergent research across disciplines. Areas of research include, but are not limited to, sustainable solutions, climate resilience, watershed modeling and monitoring, stormwater management, groundwater and vadose zone modeling. We are seeking a faculty member who can complement and contribute to university and departmental strengths with the potential to collaborate on and eventually lead transdisciplinary research initiatives. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with organizations working on regional and national water resource management areas including the USGS Dakota Water Science Center, USACE, and USBoR.
