Job Summary

The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law at Illinois State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Finance, starting on August 16, 2025.

Primary teaching needs are in corporate finance and/or investments at the undergraduate and MBA levels. Experience in quantitative finance or data analysis is also desired, but not required. The typical teaching load is 9 credit hours per semester, with a median class size of 30. Candidates must demonstrate potential for high quality teaching and research. Applicants at the associate professor level should have evidence of teaching excellence and a record of publications in high quality academic journals.

Illinois State University is one of only 189 schools that are AACSB accredited in both business and accounting. The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law has 17 tenured and tenure-track faculty members. Research support includes summer support, as well as opportunities for competitive grants and awards. Available databases include, but are not limited to WRDS (Compustat and CRSP), S&P Global Intelligence (SNL), ExecuComp, and Morningstar. Industry outreach is fostered by the Institute for Financial Planning and Analysis, housed within the department.

Required Qualifications

1. To be considered, applicants will hold a terminal degree in finance or closely related field, preferably from an AACSB accredited school. ABD candidates will be considered if close to completion.
2. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
