The Department of Economics and Finance at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track position in Finance at rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the life of the department through research, teaching, and service.

Candidates must have demonstrated, or show potential for, a strong research agenda (any area considered) and be capable of excellent/dynamic teaching.

We are seeking a candidate with teaching interest in one or more of the following Real Estate, Derivatives, or Banking. Additionally, this role may be called on to support one of our master’s programs ( MBA , IMBA , or MSF ) at some point.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Finance, Real Estate, or related field. Applicants must have confirmation of earned doctorate in Finance, Real Estate, or related field by August 1, 2025, prior to the start of appointment.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Preference given to ability to teach real estate CFA charter or progress towards this certification is a plus.
Required Certifications or Licensure Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Economics and Finance at UNCW contributes four concentrations (finance, economics, real estate, and fintech) to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as housing the Bachelor of Arts in Economics Degree and a Master of Science in Finance. In addition, the department actively supports the Master of Business Administration program as well as the International MBA program, a joint program with international partner schools. The Department actively encourages faculty and student engagement through student clubs in addition to other programs such as Fed Challenge, CFA Challenge, the student managed investment fund, and honors research projects, etc. The department also prides itself on an improving research portfolio and collaborative work within the department
