The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The OCDE Special Education Services Division operates Connections - Empowering Every Learner. Connections has 48 classes on 13 different school sites throughout Orange County. Students are referred to our programs from their district of residence. Whenever possible, interaction with non-disabled peers is promoted. We emphasize communication, vocational training, and functional academic skills with an emphasis on behavior and technology instructional supports. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Principal to manage and coordinate the activities and operations of Special Education school sites within OCDE located in Central Orange County. Essential Functions/Duties: • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, priorities, and strategic plans. • Identify resource needs; establish schedules and methods for providing specialized services; recommend and implement policies and procedures. • Provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal. • Select, train, schedule, supervise, lead, and evaluate assigned staff; provide resources and guidance to support staff success; work with employees to improve performance. • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of staff responsible for providing educational services for a special education site.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Five (5) years of educational experience in the field of special education including two (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience. • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, including training in special education. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • A valid California Credential authorizing service in a public school program. • A valid California Administrative Credential.
