MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least a Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Possess and maintain a valid Alabama certificate in school administration/supervision
- At least three (3) years' teaching experience
- Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate
- Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices, and professional development
- Knowledge of and ability to identify the unique needs and learning characteristics of students of the school assigned
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Ability to supervise and attend events after school hours
- Knowledge and ability to use and facilitate the use of various forms of education technology
- Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings
- Comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Ability to evaluate the work of others.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of school law.
- Successful previous experience in maintaining effective discipline.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and priorities.
- Assists in providing administrative leadership for all staff and students in assigned school.
- Assists in conducting staff meetings and training to promote efficient functioning of the school, the curriculum, the athletic program, and the behavior program.
- Demonstrates the ability to multitask, to delegate appropriately, and to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Maintains confidentiality of any Board of Education business, its staff, and its students.
- Demonstrates the principles and practice of effective leadership.
- Demonstrates and models regular and predictable attendance.
- Demonstrates professionalism in appearance and in attitude at all times.
- Demonstrates the ability to use technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, record keeping, reporting, scheduling, and other job responsibilities as required.
- Assists principal with assessments, ACIP, and counseling issues that may arise.
- Assists principal with curriculum, instruction, developing strategies to help students succeed, observations, interviews, evaluations, and all other items related to instruction.
- Assists principal with facility management, maintenance, cleanliness of school, organization of athletic fields, transportation of students, and all other items related to building operations.
- Assists principal with personnel issues that may arise.
- Assists principal with federal programs implementation and oversight.
- Assists principal with disciplining of students, attendance monitoring, referrals, hearings, student behavior, and all other items related to student services.
- Assists the principal with special education meetings, identification, behavioral interventions, manifestation hearings, and all other items related to special education.
- Assists principal with financial decisions and budgetary management as needed.
- Assists principal with technology implementation and training as needed.
- Assists principal with communications, through staff meetings and written/electronic correspondence, about information that will keep staff informed of policies, procedures and instructional program changes and updates.
- Participates in school system meetings, state meetings, and other activities that relate to professional development and effective school operations as assigned.
- Assists principal in overseeing the school improvement process and the implementation of school improvement plans, accreditation and accountability reports, and other required plans.
- Demonstrates high-expectations for self, for staff, and for students, and creates an environment that has goals that are both rigorous and achievable.
- Assists principal with interviewing staff.
- Conducts periodic and consistent classroom and personnel observations using approved evaluation tools.
- Conducts professional meetings with individual teachers to discuss observations, attendance, and evaluations.
- Maintains personnel records and documentation in accordance with school system guidelines under the guidance of the HR Coordinator and the principal.
- Demonstrates proficiency using technology to enter data, generate reports, create presentations, and utilize appropriate software as directed.
- Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Participates in professional development activities to enhance leadership abilities.
- Provides building security and assists in emergency situations, drills, etc. to enhance school safety.
- Attends and assists with supervision of school system activities, events, ceremonies, and conferences as needed.
- Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and conducts investigation for follow-up actions.
- Implements effective interventions prior to the official Early Warning Process.
- Maintains documentation for the Early Warning Process.
- Confers with students and their parents regarding problems or concerns related to student attendance, welfare, and makes home visits as necessary.
- Collaborates with the district social worker, mental health coordinator, law enforcement, and other relevant outside agencies to provide student supports to improve school attendance.
- Makes referrals to the juvenile court system as necessary.
- Provides follow up information to local schools on students involved in Early Warning process and Court petitions.
- Develops a district-wide approach to promoting the importance of regular student attendance through the implementation of appropriate strategies.
- Analyzes and provides data to administrators, teachers, families and students regarding attendance
- Evaluates the effectiveness of strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism and truancy rates.
- Provides school Problem Solving Teams with possible interventions and resources for students as part of a student tiered instruction plan.
- Determines if students reside within the school district.
- Models and maintains high ethical standards.
- Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
