About the Department: The Department of Kinesiology has 29 full-time faculty members and offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T. and Ph.D. programs in the academic areas of athletic training, sport management, exercise science, and health and physical education. Department faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarly accomplishments, teaching excellence, and service to their professional disciplines. Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in Kinesiology or in a closely related discipline, that emphasized motor behavior. The degree must be earned before August 1, 2025.

Position Summary

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia (UGA) is searching for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor working in the field of motor behavior, broadly defined. An applicant's research program could address questions relevant to any area of motor behavior, including motor control, motor learning, motor development, or combinations thereof. This is an academic year (9 month) position that will begin August 1, 2025.

Additional Requirements

Motor behavior research published in peer-reviewed journals.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • An established record of impactful motor behavior publications as lead author in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • One or more years of relevant post-doctoral experience (or equivalent) at the time of the appointment
  • Receipt of an external grant involving motor behavior research
  • A research program that synergizes one or more of the existing UGA Kinesiology research groups
  • One or more years of effective undergraduate or graduate university classroom teaching in the area of motor behavior

  • Establish an independent, nationally recognized research program based on impactful publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Pursue external funding from federal agencies, foundations, or other relevant sources to support a sustained research program
  • Provide effective undergraduate and graduate classroom teaching. The incumbent will be expected to teach four courses each academic year; two of those courses, one during the Fall and one during the Spring semester, will be a motor behavior course required of undergraduate Kinesiology majors
  • Provide effective student advisement and mentoring, including in support of theses and dissertations
  • Provide service activities that benefit the Kinesiology department, the University, the profession, and the public at large
