Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new knowledge and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing knowledge, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly collaborative artist/scholar who has expertise in a variety of contemporary approaches to design. The successful candidate will have a 3/2 teaching load typically comprising course delivery - such as Costume Design, Visual Period Styles for Theatre, Stage Makeup, Drawing and Rendering for the Theatre, and other related theatre courses, and design in the departmental season. The candidate is expected to participate in departmental service and governance, to maintain a profile in the performing arts industry, engage in ongoing creative and/or scholarly research, and /or to produce a record of publication commensurate with a tenure-eligible assistant professor at a research institute.
Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Experience with a variety of costume design styles, including but not limited to period drama, contemporary theatre, dance, and opera productions. The ability to teach, direct and supervise a variety of costume design related classes. Writing and securing grant applications. Demonstrated artistry in research, rendering and production. The capacity to work collaboratively with faculty and mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds
