Job Summary

Roane State Community College is inviting applications for qualified candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in our Chemical Engineering Technology Program. The successful candidate will teach a combination of introductory and advanced Chemical Engineering Technology classes including Industrial Equipment, Technical Calculations, Process Equipment, Process Operations, Process Control and Instrumentation, and other related courses. Classes are taught both in daytime and evening timeslots (including some weekends) at our Oak Ridge Branch Campus.

Job Duties
  • Plan and teach classes as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
  • Teach 15 course hours per semester and schedule a minimum of 15 office hours per week, including evenings, possibly traveling to off-campus sites.
  • Provide service to the campus and students under the direction of the Program Director for Chemical Engineering Technology.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical or Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering Technology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in chemical technology-related positions, particularly experience in process environment.
Teaching experience in chemical technology-related programs.
Teaching experience in post-secondary education programs.
Professional Engineering License or master's degree in suitable engineering discipline.
Computer skills including familiarity with Desire2Learn (or other course management software), design and process simulation software, and process control software.
Knowledge of the role and purpose of the community college in higher education.
Willingness to work with diverse student populations who represent a wide range of age, ethnicity, and academic ability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with students of all ages, and exhibit flexibility and collegiality.
Knowledge and commitment to teaching and demonstrating safe operations in the laboratory.
