Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Communication and Media in the School of Communication and Media of the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in media and communication, such as: Fundamentals of Media and Entertainment; Uses and Effects of Mass Media; Communication Research Methods; Media Management; Gender, Race and Media; Media Theory; and other courses appropriate to the candidate's expertise.
• Service to the School, College, University, and discipline.
• Conducting research that aligns with the university's research mission.
• Commitment to fostering learning and mentoring students toward student success outcomes.
• Teaching in-person, virtual, and/or mixed-modality instructions.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• A PhD, or the foreign equivalent, in Communication, Media Studies or a related discipline is required. The degree must be earned by the start date.
• An active research program commensurate with the level of experience as evidenced by publications or other relevant scholarly activities.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and/or mentoring students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Focus areas include, but are not limited to: Media and Society, Media and Communication Technology, Media and Information, Media and Democracy, Representation and Disparities in the Media, and Media Effects.
• Experience with various methodological backgrounds, such as, but not limited to, qualitative, quantitative, critical/cultural, and computational. Mixed methods or multi-methodological approaches are also encouraged.
• Demonstrates the potential to advance a research agenda through ongoing pursuit of extramural funding.
