Job Summary

This is a 12-month faculty, term contract position. This position will be responsible for teaching and/or securing adjuncts to teach Health Science courses that meet the requirements for the Health Sciences AAS Degree Program, the Healthcare Technician, Patient Care Technician, and Medical Coding Certificate Programs. In addition, responsibilities will include coordinating the instruction of the Medical Terminology course sections. The Health Sciences faculty will be responsible for coordinating student clinical placement requirements, certification testing, equipment and supply management, and the overall coordination of the Health Sciences AAS Degree Program, the Healthcare Technician, Patient Care Technician, and Medical Coding Certificate Programs. This position will also provide advisement to students, participate in college committees and campus activities, and develop coursework as needed. The standard teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester. The teaching assignment may include online and/or distance classes, evening classes, dual-enrollment, and off-campus locations.

Job Duties
  • 60% - Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned. Teach evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses as required. Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract. Regularly check your JSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions, administer, and return surveys by the required deadlines. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Attend meetings as requested by the Dean. Comply with all of the College's and TBR's policies and guidelines. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Healthcare-related certifications. Collegiate-level teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's Degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution. Experience as a Program Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $56,227 - $67,472 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
