Job Summary

The Department of Management (MGT) at Illinois State University is seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Human Resource Management (HRM) at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2025. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be in the HRM sequence (e.g., Compensation Management, Employee Benefits, Recruitment and Selection, HRM and People Analytics), but may also include other management courses (e.g., Business Organization and Management). HRM scholars whose research and/or teaching interests include diversity, equity, inclusion, and other social issues in management are also encouraged to apply.

The new hire's research, teaching, and service duties will be divided 40/40/20 percent, respectively. The primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in HRM, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, along with other Management courses as needs dictate. Faculty in Management typically teach a 3-3 load with small class sizes (i.e., enrollment capped at 40). Classes during the academic year are delivered face-to-face or hybrid. The potential and commitment to do both high-quality teaching and research is expected. Standard appointments dates are August 16 to May 15 pre- and post-tenure.

The department offers programs in Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Business Administration, and International Business. Faculty in the department have published in top tier journals, such as AMJ, AMR, ET&P, ISR, JAP, JBV, JIBS, JMS, JOM, Org Sci, R&D Management, SMJ, and Technovation among others. Required Qualifications

(1) an earned doctorate (or ABD) in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Business Administration, Management, or related field from an accredited institution,
(2) experience teaching or assisting in one or more courses in human resource management or a related management discipline,
(3) a record of research published in scholarly journals, such as those listed on the ABDC, AJG, or other scholarly journals, as well as other research in progress
(4) a demonstrated ability of oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law.
