This Faculty position will hold a joint appointment between two colleges: 60% School of Medicine and 40% College of Arts and Science.

SOM: This Faculty position will be responsible for the continued development, implementation, and execution of the Structure (Anatomy) component of the Phase 1, 2, and 3 Medical School Curriculum. The Structure (Anatomy Lab) runs on a weekly basis for all 18 months of Phase 1 of the integrated curriculum. Emphasis will be on clinical anatomy and integration across all aspects of the curriculum utilizing multiple instructional modalities. The Faculty position also entails development, implementation and execution of Anatomic Instruction to Phase 2 and Phase 3 medical students and Surgical Residents including a dissection elective. The Faculty member will develop along with the team, both practical examinations in Anatomy as well as MCQ multiple choice style questions for written tests. The Faculty member will work individually with students as needed, work on remediation, and hold office hours.

College of Arts and Science: This Faculty position will be responsible teaching basic and advanced anatomy courses in the Department of Biology. They will also assist with the development of new anatomy courses focused on preparing students for professional health careers, assist with advising, and perform assessment activities related to courses in anatomy.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Serves as a Core Faculty member of the SOM and CAS. In this role, the position will participate in Curriculum and Assessment development and planning as well as implementation in the SOM and CAS.
  • Works directly with the Assistant Dean and Director of Clinical Anatomy in the SOM and the Chair of the Department of Biology in CAS in all aspects of course development, implementation, and execution.
  • Works closely with Master's Level Anatomy Faculty/Staff and our Director of Simulation.
  • Will be considered a content expert for Anatomy.
  • Opportunities for research will be encouraged and supported.
  • The faculty member will have a primary appointment in the Department of Medical Education in the School of Medicine and Chair of Medical Education. They will have a secondary appointment in the College of Arts and Science and report to the Dean of the College.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Anatomy
  • 2 or more Years Teaching Experience (preferred) TA/Teaching during Post-Doc acceptable
