The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leading at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education invites applications for the full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Special Education and Critical Disability Studies.

Responsibilities include the following: Teach Special Education courses at the undergraduate, MA, EdD, and PhD level, including Foundations of Special Education and Instructional Methods for Students with High Incidence Disabilities. Conduct Special Education research in areas including inclusive higher education, critical disability studies, queer studies, feminist studies, and/or any number of race studies. Partner with local schools and/or organizations, and mentor Special Education students.

The position requires the following: a Ph.D. in Education, Special Education, or related field by start date, a record of scholarly work and teaching in Critical Disability Studies, and a record of peer-reviewed publication and success with (or promise of) external funding for scholarship and/or practice/engagement work.

Preferences: Experience preparing educators, special education teaching experience, evidence of partnerships and collaborations with the Disability community, and demonstrated experience (or future promise) designing and teaching online and hybrid undergraduate and graduate courses preferred but not required.
