Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice has approximately 35 full-time faculty, over 30 part-time faculty, and over 1,200 majors. The department offers Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice, an accelerated Bachelors/Master's degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master's degree in Criminal Justice. Additionally, we contribute to the interdisciplinary Cyber BS and MS degrees. The department also offers minors in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Gerontology, and Medical Sociology.
With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8,500 degree-seeking students, the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. The home of three Schools and eight Departments, the College offers more than 80 graduate and undergraduate programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preferred start date of August 2025. Rank is determined at time of hiring and commensurate with experience. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Scholarship/Research expectations: Engage in active scholarship activities, including but not limited to leading and maintaining a defined research agenda, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and actively seeking and securing external grant funding.
- Teaching: Instruct a range of courses in our undergraduate and graduate criminal justice program. The standard teaching load is 3/3; however, research intensive faculty may negotiate a six credit hours per semester (2/2) teaching load.
- Service: provide service to the department, college, university, and profession as appropriate to the position.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related discipline (including but not limited to Juvenile Justice and Sociology). ABDs will not be considered for this position.
- Minimum of two years experience, post-PhD, as an Assistant Professor from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- A proven research track record, commensurate with experience, as evidenced by peer reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated record of successful teaching, commensurate with experience as an assistant or associate professor, as evidenced by one or more of the following: course evaluation data, scholarship of teaching and learning, use of high impact practices, and/or mentorship of undergraduate or graduate students.
Preferred Qualifications
- The area of specialization within Criminal Justice is open, but applicants with a focus on Juvenile Justice are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Consistent with Kennesaw State University's focus on enhancing the undergraduate educational experience, growing graduate programs and enrollment, and promoting interdisciplinary research with relevance, we are especially interested in applicants with experience working on collaborative research teams and/or experience with externally funded research projects.
- The demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the following courses is strongly desired: Juvenile Justice, Criminal Courts, Criminal Procedure, Senior Seminar, and elective as well as core offerings in our MSCJ program.
- Previous experience performing professional service to the university and/or discipline
