Job Summary
The Advanced Propulsion Concepts Laboratory (APCL) in the Department of Aerospace Engineering is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to conduct research on awarded grants, to play an increasing role in mentoring Ph.D. students, to manage emerging research opportunities through grant writing, and to interact with funding agencies and external collaborators. The projected start date is December 1, 2024. Our research group works on propulsion concepts for mobility across air, water, land and space. We focus on developing and using computational tools for multiscale multiphysics problems that arise in existing and emerging propulsion systems.

Responsibilities*
Conduct research on aerospace-related topics such as the development of engines that can sustain flights at very high speeds, focusing on using computer tools for modeling aircraft engines. Responsible for delivering timely outputs, including research papers and conference papers. In addition, serve as mentor to junior PhD (doctoral) students providing non-didactic training on the proper conduct of research.
Required Qualifications*
Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field by the employment start date.
Modes of Work
The mode of work for this position is ONSITE. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
