Position description

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at UCLA seeks applications for a full-time (100%) Assistant Researcher in the area of Galactic Center science. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field and a demonstrated background in the methodology building of the HST-Gaia reference frame as well as the kinematics of the Nuclear Star Cluster. The position will involve dynamical modeling of the NCS and incorporation of JWST astrometry. Candidates should provide: a curriculum vita; a statement of research interests; a publication list; a statement of contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and complete a reference check authorization release form. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2024.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 13B Represented Professional Research Series (ucop.edu).The salary range for this position is $87,100-$102,900. "Off-scale salaries", i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
