JOB SUMMARY

The Women's Softball Assistant Coach / Fitness Center Assistant provides support for the women's softball program as an assistant coach including functional tasks in the college's fitness center. This position will report to the Head Softball Coach and Director of Athletics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assist in organizing team training, practice, games and individual player training in functions such as:
  • Pitch batting practice
• Assist in game management by calling pitches and coaching a base
• Monitor student athlete academic progress
• Recruit student athletes by attending high school games, tournaments and on campus workouts
• Monitor player strength and conditioning programs
• Prepare scouting reports
• Assist in team travel by driving vans to and from games
• Conduct field work on and around the softball field
• Monitor college fitness center during scheduled time and job duties
• Set up and manage live statistics during games
• Oversee softball/fitness center equipment inventory
• Conduct other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics

Non-Essential Functions:

• Utilize Google Suite for reports, etc.
• Organize three intramural events during the semester
• Ability to work weekends, and overnight trips

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Experience in the areas of pitching, hitting, or fielding
• Experience in scouting reports for opposing teams

JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's degree is required
• Previous softball coaching experience at the high school or college level and/or select softball team programs
• Valid driver's license
• Physical job functions will require the ability to safely handle equipment up to/greater than 25 lbs.

JOB LOCATION

The main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace, however in-state and out-of-state team travel is required.
