Assistant Teacher (Multiple Positions)

Early Learning Center

The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate the mission of the Early Learning Center (ELC)-to foster scientific understanding of young children's development. The ELC accomplishes this mission through (a) interdisciplinary research, (b) academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students, (c) early education programs for young children, and (d) outreach, advocacy, and public policy.

The Assistant Teacher is integral to the teaching and research mission of the ELC, providing direct, daily training, supervision, feedback, and mentoring for undergraduate participation students, graduate students, pre-service teachers, and student educators. This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of meaningful and effective curriculum for children, assessments of the children, planning community functions for ELC families, and dissemination of practices through outreach efforts. Job responsibilities include:

- Curriculum development and planning

- Collaboration with ELC teachers and student

- Coordination of family participation event

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:


High school diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred.

Required level/type of experience:

2-3 year of experience in an early care and education program required.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities includes:

- Knowledge of and ability to recommend practices in early childhood environments.

- Knowledge of appropriate curricula and program plans for child care programs for children.

- Ability to provide on-site supervision to undergraduate participation students, graduate students, pre-service teachers, and student educators.

- Ability to work with families and other teaching staff.

- Strong communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills.
