Job Description

Ad junct Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Advanced Educat i on in General Dentistry of the School of Dentistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist the Program Director to design and update curriculum for AEGD Advanced Prosthodontics topics including: Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics (partial and complete dentures), Implant Prosthodontics (Implant-supported crowns and bridges/Implant Supported Dentures) and Occlusion.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, literature reviews, seminars, and workshops on Advanced Prosthodontic topics utilizing evidence-based dentistry.
  • Develop and oversee laboratory and clinical exercises.
  • Provide guidance on complex prosthodontic cases, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and collaborations with other dental specialists as needed.
  • Discuss patient evaluation, treatment planning, management, complications, and outcomes of all cases with residents.
  • Review the patient records assigned to the residents in each clinic session to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.
  • Supervise residents in clinical sessions and approve planned treatment and treatment plans in Axium.
  • Design and administer examinations, quizzes, and practical assessments.
  • Evaluate residents' clinical skills, theoretical knowledge, and professional development.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of AEGD residents.
  • Provide periodic oral evaluations, order, and interpret radiographs and diagnose treatment for dental hygiene patients when the residents are in class or otherwise not available.
  • Integrate new technologies and innovations in prosthodontic treatment into the clinical curriculum.
  • Lead by example in clinical practice, demonstrating best practices and professional ethics, and a high standard of patient care and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A DDS/DMD or equivalent is required
  • Completion of Prosthodontics Residency Program


Other Information

Part time, 8 hours a month (.05 FTE), non-benefit eligible, unranked, non-tenure track academic position. Hours vary depending on opportunity.
