Responsibilities

The faculty psychologist will be responsible for providing individual counseling to matriculated students for general mental health concerns, adjustment disorders, personal stressors, and the promotion of well-being; for providing learning specialist services to address academic deficiencies, build study skills, and prepare for high-stakes testing; for the initial evaluation, screening, and referral as appropriate of matriculated students for psychiatric care; and for developing and managing a network of referral relationships with qualified practitioners who can provide additional services for students if required. The faculty psychologist will work closely with the College of Medicine Office of Student Counseling Services faculty and staff in a collaborative and team-based environment. As faculty, the incumbent will be expected to be active in teaching, clinical service, and research consistent with the College of Medicine's mission. This is a Clinical non-tenure earning role.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree from an American Psychological Association (APA)-approved counseling or clinical psychology program to include an APA approved pre-doctoral internship; be licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Florida or eligibility to obtain licensure within 90 days of employment; and demonstrate a record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

Preferred Qualifications

Possess strong oral and written communication skills and have at least two (2) years of experience in counseling or clinical psychology, with a minimum of one (1) year of post-doctoral clinical experience in individual and group counseling, to include psychological assessments, and/or consultations. PSYPACT APIT Certification is preferred but not required upon hire.

The FSU College of Medicine (COM) Office of Student Counseling Services (OSCS) provides psychological and educational support services to graduate students in the Medicine, Physician Assistant, Bridge to Medicine, and Biomedical Sciences programs. OSCS is part of the COM Division of Student Affairs & Admissions (DSAA).
