The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics is home to 29 faculty members with more than 420 students in programs of study at the B.S., M.A.B, M.S., and Ph.D. levels. Position Summary

The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Georgia seeks to recruit an Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor (Tenure Track, 9-month Appointment) in any field related to agricultural, environmental, resource, food, health, or development economics. The Department seeks candidates that can complement our current expertise in agricultural and applied economics.

The position is a 55% research, 40% teaching, and 5% service appointment. The incumbent will be expected to develop an internationally renowned scholarly program in their field of applied economic. Major responsibilities also include: 1) publishing research in major agricultural and/or economics journals, 2) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, 3) advising undergraduate and graduate students, and 4) securing sufficient grants and contracts to fund graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The teaching appointment is expected to translate to two-and-a-half regular courses per academic year.

Additional Requirements

To be considered for the rank of Associate Professor (Professor), candidates must have at least 5 full years in rank at the Assistant Professor (Associate Professor) level. To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate or Full Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and demonstrate national regional and/or international reputation. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire. A willingness to work in a team environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications include: (1) potential to build an outstanding record of research in the area of specialization as evidenced by numerous publications in premier agricultural economics, applied economics, and economics journals and presentations to relevant audiences, leading to a national and international reputation; (2) readiness to build an excellent graduate and undergraduate student teaching and mentoring portfolio; and (3) a willingness to secure significant external grant funding, and (4) potential to have a positive and meaningful impact on agriculture, environment, natural resources, and economic development of Georgia, the US, and the globe.
