The Assistive Technology Information & Referral Specialist provides administrative support to the FAAST Regional Assistive Technology Demonstration Center. Administrative support services include the following: receiving and greeting visitors, answering phones, ascertaining needs of callers and directing to appropriate vendor or organization that may provide assistance, scheduling appointments, providing information and referral services and educating consumers on FAAST services. Types correspondence, prepares spreadsheets, maintains database, prepares reports, and conducts special projects, as assigned. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the TGH Assistive Technology Coordinator in meeting the requirements of the FAAST executive office and the yearly site contract.
  • Assists the TGH Assistive Technology Coordinator in developing outreach plans and goals for public relations in further program development.
  • Assists the TGH Assistive Technology Coordinator in conducting lectures and workshops to solicit program expansion and endorsement.
  • Maintains and updates databases to include consumers, vendors, professionals, service providers, advocacy alert groups and a wide variety of other external customers.
  • Compiles, consolidates, and completes routine reports and documentation, including information from FAAST Service Delivery Forms for monthly reporting, accurately and within the stated period.
  • Creates, organizes, and maintains department resource files.
  • Completes other delegated responsibilities related to the various FAAST activities within the established time frames.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise required to respond to visitor and / or caller information and referral inquiries.
  • Ascertains needs of callers and directs to appropriate vendor or organization that may help.
  • Schedules FAAST Center demonstration tours and related functions.
  • Demonstrates accuracy in data entry, memos, reports, minutes, or other documents.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize work.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in the healthcare field, Sociology, Psychology, or Education is required.

Experience: Six (6) months in healthcare patient related areas, or two (2) years of post-secondary education with six (6) months experience in working with assistive technology equipment. Must be proficient with MS Office, additional software, and other related equipment.
