Qualifications:
  • Current Alabama Teacher's Certification, Bachelor's degree or higher • Knowledge of latest technology trends in education
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Minimum of 3 years working with students in an inclusive setting

Essential Duties:
  • Assess student needs for access to the curriculum
  • Prepare written assessment reports for students evaluated for assistive technology
  • Obtain and maintain assistive technology equipment
  • Provide support to teachers in developing strategies conducive to effectively integrating technology and assistive technology in inclusive and self-contained settings.
  • Provide ongoing, on-site support to classroom staff including paraprofessionals
  • Attend professional development trainings, workshops, and conferences to remain current on the latest assistive technology devices/educational technology trends
  • Provide professional development to teachers and parents including some evening sessions
  • Maintain a working knowledge of devices distributed around the district
  • Conduct classroom and teacher observations, provide feedback, and recommend technological strategies to enhance student engagement
  • Establish a positive relationship with co-workers, teachers, school administrators, central office, and state department personnel
