Position Summary

Responsible for leading finance strategy and strategic planning for the Athletic Association. Work necessitates advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of theory and practice of general business disciplines and finance and accounting practices, project management skills, budget formulation and forecasting skills, and the analysis of financial transactions and strategic initiatives. This position will oversee Olympic and Football Equipment Rooms including personnel, all purchases of equipment including apparel and footwear (player and staff), as well as serve as the Sport Facilitator for Men's Tennis.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal, management, communication and organizational skills, an in-depth knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and the ability to effectively represent the University within and outside of the campus community.
  • The position involves advanced knowledge in the area of accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and the ability to maintain the financial status of a variety of statements and records.
  • Advanced computer skills including an extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and competence in creating and working with spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated the ability to juggle multiple tasks and work cooperatively and effectively with a wide range of staff across a department.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, an aptitude for working with numbers, and above average analytical skills.
  • Incumbent will be an independent thinker, self-motivated, and accustomed to working in a high volume, fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for this position.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading and directing long-term financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and strategy to encompass budget, cash flows, debt/financing, capital projects, operations, and change management initiatives for the Association, to include the related research, policy development, presentation/communication, and implementation needed in conjunction with impacted units and Association leadership. Provide executive staff with long-term forecast, scenario planning, and performance reporting.
  • Responsible for developing robust financial data analytics and visual reporting to facilitate strategic and tactical decision-making.
  • Responsible for developing, compiling, and submitting all external financial reporting information, most notably the annual EADA Report and NCAA Financial Report. Responsible for completing ad-hoc reports and surveys requested by the Southeastern Conference, NCAA, state, creditors, and others.

  • Responsible for leading and directing annual operating budget development for all sports and departments within the Association (logistics, data gathering, analysis, implementation, and communication).
  • Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and projecting operating budget progress throughout the fiscal year, including internal reporting and remediation of issues.
  • Responsible for overseeing and tracking financial aspects of capital projects, including finance strategy and reporting on cash flow, fundraising, budgeting, spending, and financing to ensure appropriate fiscal management, communication, and alignment with long-term strategic planning.

  • Responsible for coordinating and executing special projects for the Association at the request of executive staff, including strategic planning, pro formas, presentations and reports, board meeting preparation, working groups and committees, capital acquisitions, postseason travel and events, staff professional development, and various program and process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee Olympic and Football Equipment Rooms including personnel, all purchases of equipment including apparel and footwear (player and staff). Ensure compliance with current apparel contract holder.
  • Review and approve annual equipment budgets and equipment room operating budget.
  • Serve as Sports Facilitator for Men's Tennis.

Responsible for coordinating and tracking contract employee compensation matters, including supplemental and incentive payments, employee contracts, and personnel analysis, benchmarking, and reporting to leadership.
