Summary of Position
The Associate Clinical Director for Medical Services is a leadership role that is responsible for supporting medical leadership, clinical strategy, and managing Home Hospital medical services, programs and policies, and serving as a liaison between medical and operational leadership for Home Hospital at Mass General Brigham across all facilities (Academic Medical Centers and community hospitals). This role reports to the Clinical Director for Medical Services, Healthcare at Home.

A hybrid work model, with at least one day on-site; professional office setting located in Assembly Row, Somerville, MA. May require travel locally to other Mass General Brigham sites.
The Associate Clinical Director for Medical Services is a leadership role that is responsible for supporting medical leadership, clinical strategy, and managing Home Hospital medical services, programs and policies, and serving as a liaison between medical and operational leadership for Home Hospital at Mass General Brigham across all facilities (Academic Medical Centers and community hospitals). This role reports to the Clinical Director for Medical Services, Healthcare at Home.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist in implementation of clinical workflows within the region, working toward consistent achievement of program goals
- Provide oversight for quality and safety, supporting the Quality and Safety Director
- Participate in clinical huddles as able to support staff
- Respond to clinical and operational questions escalated from medical team
- Support team in clinical or team scenarios that require special consideration
- Support team during escalation of patients back to the hospital, including in efforts to maintain care at home through enhanced support
- Cultivating collaborative working relationships with all members of the Home Hospital team;
- Collaborate and liaise with referring services and specialty partners for regional hospitals
- Respond to clinical and operational questions escalated from medical team
- Participate in the evaluation, reviews, performance management, and development of medical faculty
- Encourages team to admit toward census cap
- Arbitration for disagreements with team members
- Collaboration with Nurse Manager (Charge RN as back-up) on decision to close beds (due to staffing or other reasons)
- Participate in and represent home hospital at Daily Safety Huddles on a rotating basis.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Commitment to a minimum equivalent of 0.20 FTE clinical hours as a Home Hospitalist with the associated duties and compensation
Skills/Competencies
- Strong managerial presence and ability to provide direct feedback to leadership
- Multi-disciplinary team management experience required
- Passion for leveraging the dynamic, shifting landscape of health care to drive effective Home Hospital care initiatives that engage key internal and external stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work with all levels of staff (executive, front-line, trustees and physicians) and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Results-oriented and exhibits a strong attention to detail
Requirements
- Board-certified physician in internal medicine
- 2+ years of medical management experience
