The purpose of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs is to help assure coordination and quality of the multiple academic supports for students across modalities of learning. They develop an array of programs and partnerships to provide educational opportunities to existing and new sectors of students. They work closely with academic partners at the University of Maine as a liaison to the regional campus of UMaine Machias.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • A terminal degree in their area of study.
  • 3 years' experience in higher education administration.
  • Credentials must be commensurate for appointment with immediate tenure at the rank of associate or full professor.
  • Experience in working with different modalities of instruction.
Preferred:
  • Served as a program coordinator or division chair at a small college campus.
  • Experience working on a regional campus.
  • Experience in working with rural education.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and assessment, as well as the process of curriculum and program development.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment with staff and faculty across all areas of the university and UMS.
  • Demonstrate success with organization, time management, and problem solving skills.
