Responsibilities

This position is responsible for overseeing the collection, transportation and disposal of waste, including recycling and surplus. This position also manages the Facilities motor pool, warehouse, and carpet cleaning services, including emergency clean up services.
  • Responsible for solid waste disposal, recycling, and surplus daily operations for the FSU on the Tallahassee campuses/sites; includes parking lots and parking structures. Participates in strategic short- and long-term planning for operations and development of service level agreements. Recommends and oversees department operation policies including data tracking and applicable IT systems management. Oversees recycling initiatives and collaborates with the Office of Sustainability, Environmental Health and Safety and other campus departments on outreach and education efforts associated with waste management, recycling, and surplus. Advances programs, initiatives, and methods for increasing department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for Facilities warehouse and motor pool, to include providing oversight of warehouse inventory and scheduling and coordinating vehicle use and maintenance. Coordinates with vendors for repair of vehicles and handles necessary records and billing.
  • Manages carpet cleaning and emergency clean-up response for campus. Responsible for overseeing personnel and material resources to ensure success of relocation services, restroom restoration care, window cleaning for campus buildings, carpet cleaning, pest control, and other maintenance, repairs, and services.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and four years of experience related to facilities and/or grounds services or a bachelor's degree and six years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and procedures as they pertain to chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, or environmental health standards
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of processes, procedures, and methods used in facilities operations.
  • Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices to strategica lly align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
