SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provides essential leadership in the planning, organizing, and directing and of the activities of the Maintenance and Operations Division, Facilities Department, at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine. Reports directly to the Director, Facilities Operations and Maintenance. Provides tactical, strategic and operational level support. Assists in the management of 120+ team members. Directs maintenance of over 5 million square feet of campus building space and infrastructure. Provides input for capital and operational investment in campus facilities, to include management and oversight of >$10 million annual budget. Assists in developing goals and objectives for the department. Develops a team-oriented and innovative work atmosphere to support the organizational missions, goals and initiatives while improving efficiencies, reducing costs, meeting regulatory requirements and delivering high quality services with best practice and sustainability considerations. This position will also provide 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis with occasional emergency response required during unscheduled times. This position also serves as first-line backup to the Director, Facilities Operations and Maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in managing facilities plant operations required.
  • Three (3) years of management experience required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a healthcare organization required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a large (approximately 500 bed) academic medicine campus required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field preferred
