Job Description:

Provide oversight and direction for housing assignments for single student housing and graduate student housing
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for housing assignment processes such as eligibility, student applications, housing contracts, assignments, renewals, and special interest populations
  • Examine and analyze occupancy demand, projections, and university enrollment trends for departmental reporting, institutional reporting, and to inform management decisions
  • Develop and maintain occupancy statistics and projections for departmental budget development and analysis
  • Manage housing contracts and assignments related to department managed communities, including residence halls, apartments, and other properties
  • Build and maintain partnerships with various university offices including but not limited to the University Enrollment Management, University Athletic Association, Disability Resource Center, International Center, and the Honors Program for the purposes of occupancy management functions for associated students
  • Administer the implementation of the department's ADA program requirements
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to the housing assignment process
  • Interpret and enforce housing contracts, handling requests for contract exceptions and appeals of contract provisions and releases
  • Manage the opening and closing of residences halls and administer the check-in and out of students
  • Enforce compliance standards for all youth-affiliated activity at the University of Florida
  • Manage housing management system; implement web-based application and assignments process enhancing technical partnerships and efficiencies; understand and fulfill student data management requirements
Provide oversight for the operational functions of undergraduate area desk operations
  • Provide oversight and direction for the operation of undergraduate area desk operations which includes mail forwarding, key inventory and access control, resident check-in/out and package intake, delivery, and inventory; 2 area desks operate 24-hours a day
  • Create and implement operating plan for area desk operations focusing on general operation and efficiencies
  • Provide oversight and leadership for undergraduate area desk staff that includes full-time area supervisors, full-time individual desk staff, and associated student staff
Responsible for communication strategy of on-campus living experience to prospective and current students and related stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with Division of Student Life Marketing & Strategic Communications to ensure standardized communications, marketing materials, and other communication platforms are up-to-date and aligned with the departments mission and goals
  • Construct and implement holistic communication plan for area of responsibility that promotes the on-campus living experience encouraging growth and retention; create and deliver presentations, steward building relationships with prospective students and families
  • Prepare and manage communications to incoming and current residents and families
  • Enhance and implement plan for housing tours with prospective, incoming, or admitted students and families
Responsible for supervision of staff and management of general administrative
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff establishing work priorities and workflow; developing strategic plan and goals relevant to the area, providing general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment
  • Responsible for administrative functions related to employee management (e.g. time approval and reporting, performance evaluation) and related human resources functions for staff
  • Responsible for budget planning, management, and oversight for areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, disseminating, and enforcing policies, procedures, and guidelines for areas of responsibility
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and University policies, guidelines, and other relevant regulations
  • Manage technology, information systems, automated phone processes, and corresponding data utilized for housing operations and related staff
  • Serve in a weekly after hours on call rotation to respond to emergencies and crisis situations for area of responsibility
Develop reports, handle special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned
  • Serve on Division of Student Life or University of Florida committees as needed
  • Manage the Application for Contract Release process and Appeals committee
Expected Salary:

$80,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and six years of experience.

A valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Master's degree in business administration, public relations/communications, or higher education preferred
  • Minimum three years of full-time supervisory experience leading a high performing team
  • Knowledge of occupancy management, assignments, and contracts within a University setting
  • Experience working with budgets and financial procedures
  • Experience creating strategic plans associated with occupancy, operations, and other related business function
Skills:
  • Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to the objectives of higher education
  • Demonstrated skills in strategic planning and project management
  • Experience in a data-driven environment and/or data-driven decision-making
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, StarRez, or Housing Management Systems)
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
