About the Opportunity

The College of Law at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Program Coordinator to serve as the Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Pipeline Programs. This position assists with the implementation of a successful recruitment and communication plan to enroll a qualified and diverse class. Additionally, this position will be responsible for creating and managing new and existing pipeline initiatives like the College of Law's 3+3 Program.

The Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Pipeline Programs will report to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management at the College of Law. Note, this is an in-person position. However, they may be opportunities for remote work as determined by business needs.

What You'll Do

Recruitment, Communication, & Assessment

  • Work with members of the Enrollment Management Office to develop a strategic plan for recruiting students who express interest in pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Travel to and represent the College of Law at both local and national off campus recruiting events. Travel will encompass both independent and team travel, evening and weekend hours, and driving long distances that require overnight stays.
  • Be knowledgeable about the College of Law and West Virginia University.
  • Advise prospective students on the criteria for admission to the College of Law.
  • Assist students with the application process and make referrals to other units as needed.
  • Work with members of the Enrollment Management Office and the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) to become an expert in Unite, our application system.
  • Evaluate and make a preliminary decision on applications for admission.
  • Conduct on campus visits with prospective and admitted students.
  • Support and assist with programming offered by the Enrollment Management Office. Such programming may require presentations to small and large groups of students.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external and internal constituents (students, prelaw advisors, alumni, faculty, staff, and peers).
  • Work with members of the Enrollment Management Office to develop and implement communication strategies with prospective and admitted students. Communication will be via phone, email, social media, and formal letters.
  • Assist the Associate Director for Enrollment Management and Scholarships in managing the Enrollment Management Office's general email account.
  • Maintain the admitted student Facebook group.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Pipeline Programs

  • Create and manage specialized outreach and programming for the 3+3 Program.
  • Identify areas of improvement and growth for the 3+3 Program.
  • Work with members of the Enrollment Management Office to create and implement a plan of action for addressing the areas of improvement and growth.
  • Identify areas of expansion for the 3+3 Program both within West Virginia University and at other institutions.
  • Work with members of the Enrollment Management Office and College of Law leadership to expand the 3+3 Program.
  • Research other potential pipeline programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Personnel Management

  • Work closely with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management to identify and train faculty, staff, alumni, and current students to serve as representatives of the College of Law at both on and off campus events.
  • Supervise current students hired by the Enrollment Management Office as "Admissions Ambassadors."
  • Other duties as assigned.


Professional Development

  • Engage in professional development opportunities when available, especially as they relate to admissions, recruitment, and pipeline programs.
  • Stay up to date on trends in legal education and the legal market that may influence a student's decision to attend law school.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field such as admissions, financial aid, law, higher education, etc.
  • Able to travel extensively and work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to conduct research, analyze data, and provide written report interpreting results.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of admissions records and administrative matters, complying with Federal, State, and University regulations.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Displays the utmost level of professionalism with both internal and external constituents.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, social media platforms.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Able to supervise, train, and discipline subordinates.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or master's degree


  • A valid US driver's license
