Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Manages the day-to-day processing and customer service operations of the Office of First-Year Admissions. Executes and coordinates with the Director of First-Year Admissions, the first-year student recruitment strategy, including presentation content and marketing themes. Leads and coordinates recruitment travel territories and assignments. Develops and maintains documentation for first-year recruitment activities, including travel schedule, training, procedures, and calendars. Disseminate documentation as appropriate. Manager of and point-person for Customer Relationship Management system for First-Year and Non-Degree admissions. Oversee and manage 25 annual on-campus recruitment events/visits. Manages the cohort of first-year student applications and makes admissions decisions, reviews documentation required to make those decisions, and reviews decision appeals. Admissions decisions are made while striving to meet the university's goals related to headcount, quality, and diversity. Supervises operations (clerical) staff including training and assessment. Acts as office point-person for recruitment collateral/publications generation and updates, working closely with the Office of University Marketing and Communication. Serves as spokesperson/communication officer among first-year students, faculty, and staff as well as external community. Participate in recruitment activities at high schools and other venues. May include travel and overnight commitments. Responsible for small and large group presentations both on and off-campus. Recruit, coordinate, train, and assign alumni volunteers to recruitment activities such as college fairs. Works primarily with prospective first-year students and families, but may also participate and assist with other all office events and tasks for other prospective student populations. Recommends changes to admissions policy addressing an evolving higher education landscape. Must maintain a valid driver's license and ability to travel for recruiting purposes. Evening, weekend work and overnight travel are required and essential. Other related duties as assigned by the Director and/or Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of three years of professional recruitment and admissions experience in higher education. Experience working with diverse constituencies, including faculty, deans and senior staff, admission office colleagues, students, parents, school counselors, and alumni. Evidence of excellent written communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license, be able to work weekends, and travel with overnight stays. The successful candidate must perform well in an on-campus interview and successfully deliver a formal presentation. Completion of a successful background check is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong leadership skills; ability to lead and execute recruitment and marketing initiatives; knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with CRM applications, or Banner; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; supervisory experience, and evidence of energy, flexibility, integrity, and creativity.
