The University Research Centers (URCs) conduct a variety of research involving translational research in neuroimaging, behavioral neuroscience, diagnostic technology, neuroinflammation and cardiometabolic diseases, and other areas. The centers involve faculty from a variety of colleges and departments on campus. Their research is funded primarily by federal agencies and not-for-profit organizations and continues to expand each year. The URC researchers brought in over $32 million in sponsored funding in Fiscal Year 2024. This position will join the team of research administrators and project coordinator supporting the URCs.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Associate Director of the University Research Centers Support Team. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of research administration, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing operational efficiency, and supporting the research objectives of the URCs. The Associate Director will manage the URC support team, work closely with the faculty in the centers, and the administrators in the centers. Additionally, the Associate Director will play a key role in fostering a culture of excellence in research administration practices. All of the job responsibilities require independence, decision-making, and exercising judgment. A CRA, CFRA, or CPRA is preferred. This position is currently remote; however, must be available to work in the office as needed.

Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the URC team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals, contracts, and other research-related documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with funding agency guidelines.
  • Collaborate with center directors, principal investigators, and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful execution of research projects, including budget management, project planning, and reporting.
  • Review and approve Research Portal, PantherMart, OneUSG, and Spectrum transactions. Review and approve Pcard statements and logs, as well as other documents.
  • Represent the URCs on committees and at meetings concerning research administration processes at GSU.
  • Co-lead research administration training through Lunch and Learns, campus introductory training, etc. as needed.
  • Serve as a resource on research administration issues, providing guidance and support to faculty and staff.
  • Stay informed of changes in regulations, policies, and best practices related to research administration, and proactively communicate updates to URC support team, faculty, and other personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
  • A CRA/CFRA/CPRA is strongly desired; must obtain one within one year of employment if candidate does not have one at the time of employment. Experience in both pre-award and post award is desirable.
